Description
Class 400 Agi Pipe (AS/NZS 2439.1)
Class 400 Agi Pipe is a corrugated polyethylene (PE) drainage coil with ring stiffness SN8 for reliable subsoil water collection and conveyance. Also called ag pipe, ag-line, slotted drain coil or subsoil drain, it is used in civil, landscaping and agricultural works to control groundwater around trenches, verges, structures and sports fields.
The slotted variants use a multi-slot pattern positioned in alternate corrugation valleys to balance intake and pipe strength. Choose slotted for infiltration, socked (slotted with a geotextile wrap) where filtration is specified or soils are fine/sandy, and unslotted for carrier/bypass sections. All formats are manufactured to AS/NZS 2439.1 for land drainage performance.
Key features & benefits
- SN8 stiffness (Class 400): Corrugated wall resists soil loads; smooth bore assists flow.
- Efficient intake: Evenly distributed slots in alternate valleys help balance capture and strength.
- Format options: Slotted • Socked (slotted + filter wrap) • Unslotted carrier.
- Durable PE: Corrosion-free, chemical-resistant and low maintenance.
- Fast to deploy: Lightweight flexible coils reduce joints and handle curves easily.
- Standards based: Manufactured to AS/NZS 2439.1 for land drainage.
Applications
- Subsoil drainage in trenches, verges and embankments to relieve groundwater.
- Roads & civil shoulder and median drains; behind retaining structures.
- Landscapes & sports gardens, golf courses, ovals and perimeter drains.
- Residential footing/perimeter drains and connections to approved discharge points.
Choosing Class 400 formats & sizes
Format: Use slotted to collect groundwater in general soils. Select socked (slotted + geotextile wrap) where filtration is specified or soils are fine/sandy. Choose unslotted for carrier/bypass sections between collection points.
Diameter: 65mm for compact runs, 100mm as the all-round civil/landscape size, 160mm for higher flow capacity across longer runs or broader catchments.
Class: Class 400 (SN8) suits general subsoil drainage. For heavier loads, deeper cover or critical corridors, see Class 1000 (SN20).

Performance & materials
Dual-wall efficiency: Corrugated outer wall provides ring stiffness SN8 while the smooth bore supports efficient water conveyance.
Perforation pattern: Slotted variants use evenly distributed slots along the pipe length, positioned to balance intake with pipe strength and to minimise fines migration when used with specified filter media or a sock.
Material durability: Inert polyethylene (PE) resists corrosion and common soil chemicals and is UV-stabilised for typical site exposure prior to backfill.
Quality assurance: Supplied through ISO-aligned supply chains to meet AS/NZS 2439.1 for land drainage.
